This past Saturday (March 30) the Punk Rock Rummage Sale returned to downtown Flint for a night of rummaging, music, and fun. Vendors from as far as Grand Rapids turned out to Churchill’s set up and sell everything from records to VHS and cassette tapes to CDs to art to vintage clothes to jewelry and so much more – it was hard not to find something unique and interesting. The Punk Rock Rummage Sale began in Flint in 2010 as a way to bring artists and people with interesting ‘stuff’ together under one roof to sell their items. Inspired by similar events in Detroit the show was built around the desire of creating something fun for people to do for an evening in Flint.
The event was free to participate in and free to come to and there was a crowd through the entire night, brought by the allure of exotic items for sale and held by the music of DJ Michael A and local music superheroes Champions of Breakfast. This was the fifth rummage sale and from the turn out and the reactions of those in attendance it was another rousing success. There is no discussion as to when the next rummage sale will be but it’s bound to return eventually.
