This Weekend’s Punk Rock Rummage Sale Let’s You Walk On The Thrift Side

PRRSThis Saturday will bring another Punk Rock Rummage Sale to Downtown Flint which means another opportunity to find the fun, forgotten, unique and bizarre!  The Punk Rock Rummage Sale is a celebration of all things weird and wonderful and is a twist on the traditional rummage sale as it is taken from the yard and transplanted into a bar where you can browse in comfort with a drink as you listen to classic punk and new wave tunes. Taking place at Churchill’s Food & Spirits the event is held in the evening and is a casual experience where people can come into the bar and browse, buy, and hang out as DJ Michael Absher spins music all evening long. Even if you have never gotten a tattoo or piercing you’ll still feel welcome as the name refers to the music on tap for the evening and the notion that rummage sales aren’t often held in bars in the evening.  At the rummage sale shoppers will find everything from books, to art, to crafts, to collectibles to movies, to handmade jewelry, to clothes, and the list can go on and on.  If nothing else you will see things you have never seen before and some things you forgot even existed.

The Punk Rock Rummage Sale is a free event where music and garage sale collide in the warm confines of a friendly neighborhood bar and the thing that makes the PRRS so much fun is the thrill of discovery you get when you something you have been looking for or something you never knew you wanted and all of it is priced to move.  If you are looking for something fun and free this Saturday look no further than Churchill’s in Downtown Flint where the drinks will be cold, the bar warm, the music loud, and the atmosphere fun.

The Punk Rock Rummage Sale Returns To Flint

This past Saturday (March 30) the Punk Rock Rummage Sale returned to downtown Flint for a night of rummaging, music, and fun. Vendors from as far as Grand Rapids turned out to Churchill’s set up and sell everything from records to VHS and cassette tapes to CDs to art to vintage clothes to jewelry and so much more – it was hard not to find something unique and interesting. The Punk Rock Rummage Sale began in Flint in 2010 as a way to bring artists and people with interesting ‘stuff’ together under one roof to sell their items. Inspired by similar events in Detroit the show was built around the desire of creating something fun for people to do for an evening in Flint.

The event was free to participate in and free to come to and there was a crowd through the entire night, brought by the allure of exotic items for sale and held by the music of DJ Michael A and local music superheroes Champions of Breakfast. This was the fifth rummage sale and from the turn out and the reactions of those in attendance it was another rousing success. There is no discussion as to when the next rummage sale will be but it’s bound to return eventually.
