The annual Harvest Festival will hit downtown Flushing Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The autumn extravaganza will showcase all things fall, with activities including scarecrow competitions, pumpkin painting and beard contests.
A chili cook-off will take place on the southeast corner of Main and Cherry streets, where visitors can buy a commemorative mug for $5 and use it to sample and vote for their favorite chili from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Entertainment on Main Street will kick off 9:45 a.m. with the Flushing Youth Cheerleaders. There will also be a pet parade, featuring cats and dogs, at 3:15 p.m.
