It’s something that would have been unthinkable not too long ago. A Chevrolet taking on Honda and Volkswagen in a battle of extreme economy and environmental friendliness. Even more unthinkable would have been the Chevrolet winning.
But this is the new Chevrolet.
The Chevrolet Cruze Eco (and its Flint-built engine) is parked at the head of the class.
As the sun started to set, we parked the three cars in downtown Chelsea and headed over to The Common Grille for dinner, where we expected to argue and debate over which car was best during our day of on-road testing. But we had a clear winner in our minds even before sitting down at the table.
Simply put, when you take all of the parts of these cars into consideration – fuel economy, style, dynamics, refinement, style, packaging and value – the Cruze Eco is our favorite, with the Jetta TDI taking a close second and the Civic coming in third. No one argued, and instead, we focused on discussing the deliciousness of The Common Grille’s fresh-baked dinner rolls.
FLINT, Michigan –in an effort to combat childhood obesity and the adverse health effects associated with it, the flint children’s museum has joined michelle obama’s nation wide “Let’s Move” Initiative, and now offers more nutritional and physical activities for children throughout the museum year around.
This summer, the outdoor area known as “sproutside” offers plenty of physical activities, including a fitness circuit that provides areas for children to cross balance beams, jump from stump to stump, play hop scotch or just simply run! kids can also get in their toybox and find frisbees, badmitten rackets, jump ropes, hula hoops, and various balls to play catch with.
The “let’s Move” initiative was a natural fit for the museum. sproutside is a great place for kids to get back to nature and express their wonderful energy,” said Kimberly roddy, Director of marketing/communication.
If you’re over 21, you can watch the full video of Kid Rock’s performance in Flint from back in April. The Detroit-area rocker played a show at the Machine Shop as part of a promotion for Jim Beam (you must be of age to enter the site).
