The Montrose Blueberry Festival Sweetens Up The Week

side1The Montrose Blueberry Festival is back for another year of fun and food with a full slate of events to keep you and your family busy.  This year’s festival kicks off on August 15 and runs through August 18 and there are activities scheduled for each day.  This year there are two parades to look forward to with the Kids Parade being the first and happening on August 16. The theme for the Kids Parade this year is ‘Under the Big Top’ and children are encouraged to wear costumes that match the theme (though any costume the kids want to wear is just fine).  The Blueberry Super Parade will be held on Saturday the 17th and will kick off at 1PM.  The Super Parade draws crowds every year and is something that the community looks forward to each year. Featuring the Blueberry Queen and her Court and including music and fun for everyone, this is a parade not to be missed.

During the festival there will be 5 & 8K road races on Saturday, a Slo-Pitch Softball Tourney, a Mud Bog, a Blueberry Pancake Breakfast, and a movie night.  If fast paced excitement isn’t for you there will also be a Karaoke contest, shopping galore, and the The Shiabruck Medieval Village for a fun taste of the past, which will be near the High School.

The Montrose Blueberry Festival is one of the most beloved events of Genesee County and this year looks to have enough excitement to make the most frowny of faced smile.  If you haven’t been out that way for this great event make this the year and see what everyone’s been talking about and what makes Montrose such a wonderful community.
