Get Your Bikes Out and Tires Filled – The TOUR DE CRIM Returns This Weekend!

Tour De CrimThis Saturday Downtown Flint will be flooded with bicycles as people take to the bricks for the 2014 HealthPlus TOUR DE CRIM.   The Tour De Crim is a casual bike challenge that takes riders out along ten miles of the Crim course, following the blue line from Downtown Flint, through some of the college district, over towards Miller Road, and then back downtown for the finish.  Along the course will be set up several optional obstacles where riders must complete challenges before taking to their wheels and hitting the road again.  The focus of the event is fun and that is exactly what is planned as the strange, wonderful, ridiculous and outrageous are encouraged in both fashion and ride.  One of the things that makes the Tour de Crim so much fun is the incorporation of obstacles into the ride and this year they’ll include limboing, hay bale climbing, rope ladders, balance beams, and many, many more challenges that promise to put you throug your paces.  The fun extends well past the race though as there are even more games afterwards in the Flat Lot as well as contests for the most classic bike, best decorated bike, and most creative costumes and all of it will be set to a soundtrack provided by live bands sponsored by Red Ink/Flint Local 432.

This Saturday you and your friends can hit the road and ride the blue line as you laugh your way through all the obstacles and fun and then head back to the Flat Lot in Downtown Flint and enjoy an adult beverage, some music, and share the stories of the day’s strange adventures.  Whether you are looking for a casual ride or something with a little more spirited the Tour de Crim promises to get you out and moving and having an absolute blast.  The Tour de Crim begins promptly at 11AM on Saturday and registration is still open.

Ride The Line With The Tour De Crim This Weekend

BikeLogoHave you ever wanted to travel the Crim route but weren’t up for running the race itself?  This Saturday, May 11th you’ll get a chance to take your bike out on the streets and you can follow the blue line all through the city.  This is the first year of the HealthPlus Tour De Crim and there is reason for the growing excitement.  Unlike other similar events this is a casual ride and is non-competitive so that participants can focus on just getting out and getting some exercise while having fun.  Adding a little more adventure to the tour will be several challenges and obstacles that bicyclists will have to overcome along the way.  The obstacles will be set up at locations like Atwood Stadium and several parks on the route and will include doing the limbo, going down inflatable slides, and much, much more.

The HeathlPlus Tour De Crim has more to offer though than just the bike ride and challenges.  There will be live entertainment from all ages club Flint Local 432 and there will be micro-brews available from Table & Tap.  The tour isn’t just for adults though and there is a bike rodeo for the kids as well as other activities so this is a wonderful chance for families to get out and enjoy the Spring weather together and get some exercise with the ones they love.  Riders must register to participate and you can do so on the Crim website and registration will get you a t-shirt, medal, and a beverage as well as 10% off participating restaurants and there will be bikes and helmets to rent if you don’t have wheels but want to take part.

For more information about the Tour De Crim head to the Crim website where you will find out how to register and what will be in store for you if you join the fun.
