4 Ways to Celebrate Independence Day in Flint & Genesee

fireworks-1758_640The Fourth of July is fast approaching. Here are four festivals and fireworks displays that will keep area residents and visitors entertained this week.

Flint’s Carnival and Fireworks Display, July 2-5
Downtown Flint’s Entertainment District, Saginaw Street

Enjoy four days of family fun in downtown Flint with carnival rides, vendors and more. Fireworks are scheduled for Friday evening.

Clio Family Fun Day, July 4
Clio City Park, 402 N. Mill Street, Clio

The 33rd annual celebration will begin at 2 p.m. with a flag raising ceremony and end with a fireworks display at dusk.

Fenton Freedom Festival, July 4
Fenton Community & Cultural Center, 150 S. Leroy Street, Fenton

The 25th annual celebration will feature a pancake breakfast, parade, 5K race and fun run/walk, food vendors, rubber ducky race, classic car display, arts and crafts and more.  A fireworks display, set to music, will light up the sky at Silver Lake Park starting at dusk. The event runs from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Fourth of July Fireworks in Montrose, July 4
Montrose Township Barber Park, 11410 Seymour Road

Hosted by the Montrose Patriots Club, the event will include a petting zoo, the launching of sky lanterns, concessions, music and entertainment. Residents can purchase a lantern for $5 at the Farmers’ Market on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. or at M-57 Aggregate in downtown Montrose.
