ApplewoodHarvest2014

Pumpkin candles, pumpkin bread, pumpkin lattes … don’t forget the real pumpkins! Autumn in Flint & Genesee is just gorgeous, so get out, get your pumpkin and doughnuts and cider … and throw in a few corn mazes, too. Here’s a look at some fun opportunities to enjoy your fall!

Applewood Estate

It’s harvest season, and the grounds of Applewood will be open Saturday, Sept. 27, for a day packed with nature programs, tasty foods, information about healthy eating, make-and-take craft projects, fitness fun, live music, and the annual fall celebration of good things from the harvest.

During the free event from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., visitors are invited to taste apples, view vintage cider pressing methods and take home apples and pears. We will have cider from local orchards for tasting.  Apple lovers can vote for their favorite variety of heritage apples sampled from our very own orchard.

Golf cart shuttles are available for those with mobility challenges. Parking, admission to the grounds of Applewood and the programs are free. Visitors are encouraged to bring food or a personal care item to donate. All products will be given to local shelters.
