Car shows popping up all over the Flint area this summer

We all know about the bigger, more established spring and summer car shows in Genesee County — Back to the Bricks, The Sloan Museum Auto Fair, etc. But, to  my surprise, there are many, many more in our area. The Flint Journal recently published a list of these smaller, lesser-known shows.

From The Flint Journal:

• City of Burton and Courtland Center Memorial Day Car, Truck and Bike Show, 1 to 5 p.m. Monday at Courtland Center, 4190 E. Court St. in Burton. Music by The Jesse Couch Band. Admission is free. Donations accepted for Toys for Tots. Info: 810-744-0742.

• Emmanuel Baptist Church, 6434 Richfield Road in Flint, is hosting a car show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday that is open to all vehicles and motorcycles. There is no charge to participate and trophies will be given at 2 p.m. Lunch will be available at noon. The event will be held rain or shine.

• Classic Vehicle Club hosts its 11th annual Spring Car Show, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 4 at the American Legion Pavilion, 4314 W. Capenter in Flint. Registration fee is $15. Judging to be completed at 3 p.m. The event includes 50/50 raffle, trophies for all classes, music by Ray the DJ and refreshments. Vending spaces available. Free to walk-in public. • Swartz Creek Hometown Days Car Show “Cruisin’ the Creek” takes place from 1 to 5 p.m. June 4 on Fortino Drive, near the U.S. Post Office, in downtown Swartz Creek. Dash plaques will go to the first 150 cars to be registered the day of the show. Event is free. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with awards at 5 p.m. Call 810-252-8800 or visit http://www.hometowndays.org.

• The 11th annual Corvette Car Show takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 4 at Applegate Chevrolet, 3736 S. Saginaw in Flint. This is a qualifying event for the Motor City Concours. Registration, 8 a.m. to noon; cost, $20 per corvette. Free public admission. For more information or to register, call 810-424-5872.

• LakeVille Car Show is scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. June 11 in the LakeVille High School parking lot, 11107 Washburn Road in Otisville. Car show registration, $10. Additional events taking place are: 5K run/walk, 9 a.m.; bicycle ride, 10 a.m.; community walk, 11 a.m.; fun fest, noon to 5 p.m., motorcycle ride, 4 p.m.

• Michigan’s Vietnam Veteran Traveling Memorial Moving Wall and Classic Car Show takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 11 at Home Depot, 300 W. Pierson in Flushing. For more info, call 810-230-6430.

• Team Corvette hosts its Festival of Covettes Car Show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 11 at Al Serra Auto Plaza, G-6167 Saginaw in Grand Blanc. Trophies will be given in all classes. Call 517-202-8386. Proceeds go to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and the Old News Boys of Flint.
