Sunday, September 11th: Dedication of 9/11 Memorial to be held at Mott Community College

Mott Community College is using the dedication of a memorial featuring a piece of the World Trade Center destroyed on September 11, 2001, which was presented to MCC by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, as an opportunity to honor local police, fire and emergency response professionals.

The dedication ceremony will be held on the MCC main campus, 1401 East Court Street in Flint at 2 pm on Sunday, September 11, 2011.  Area police and fire chiefs will participate in the ceremony along with many local officers. The event is free and open to the public.

The ceremony will be followed by a reception for first responders in the Applewood Café on the MCC campus.

The event will also mark the 10th anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001.

“This is an opportunity for our community to honor the men and women who showed such courage on 9/11 and those in our community who risk their lives every day to keep us safe,” stated MCC President Dick Shaink. “Mott College is humbled to honor these brave people and the memorial we dedicate will serve as a permanent reminder of their sacrifice and service.”
