Grand Blanc is home to first solar-powered Chevy Volt charging station

Some locals are riding the light thanks to one local dealership. This great story is from Mlive and it’s about the new solar-powered Chevy Volt charging station at Al Serra in Grand Blanc. Al Serra is the only dealership in the country to have one.

From Mlive:

Genesee County now is home to the first solar-powered charging station being tested nationwide by General Motors for the battery-powered car that’s been hailed as a symbol of the automaker’s rebirth.

Such stations soon could become commonplace at any of the more than 2,000 Volt dealers nationwide — but the first was at Al Serra Auto Plaza in Grand Blanc, said Mary Alice Kurtz, a renewable energy manager for GM.

  1. Hey Flint on Full – think maybe more than 45 words on something that is FIRST in the country and in the Flint area is warranted? This was a *snippet* of an article *clip.* That makes it almost worthless. The article raises more questions than it answers.

What are people going to do for 4 hours while the car is charging?
Are there local services? A coffee shop? A library? A shuttle to somewhere?
How many Volts have been sold in the Grand Blanc area?
Do you have to make an appointment?
What about power in the winter, ya know it’s… MICHIGAN!

Do I have to send the New York Times to Flint AGAIN?
